Rachel Covey
Nursery Manager
My name is Rachel Covey and I started at Starfish Children's Day Nursery in August 2007 as a nursery nurse. I have 8 years experience and I am qualified level 2 & 3 NVQ in childcare and development. Since then I have progressed into a successful room manager/junior deputy manager working with children aged 1-2 years, as well as supporting the management team.
In September 2009 I transferred to our Richmond nursery to cover maternity leave as Deputy Manager for six months. I really enjoyed my time there and learnt so much. After six months I moved to our Weybridge nursery as Deputy Manager and was there for two years. I have worked with all ages from 3 months to 5 years. In January 2012 I transferred back to Starfish as Nursery Manager and I am delighted to be back with the team, parents and children.
Spending time in a variety of nurseries has shown me a lot and given me the experience to drive to achieve outstanding care and education at Starfish Day Nursery.
Emma Bookham
Deputy Manager
Emma Bookham joined Starfish in December 2008 and is NNEB qualified with 14 years experience in childcare and is currently doing her Foundation Degree in Early Years.
Emma's background includes working with all age groups in a day nursery environment and has run the 2-3 years room and a preschool. Emma enjoys working with children because she finds it rewarding to see them grow and develop. She also enjoys working very closely with parents and encourages a good team ethos within the nursery.
Becka Pinnells
Acting Deputy Manager
I joined Starfish in October 2006 and have done my NVQ level 3 and am currently doing my foundation degree in early years. I have 10 years experience in childcare spent with all age groups.
I have worked with all age groups but while at Starfish I have spent five years in the Angelfish Room as Room Manager. I have just been promoted to an Acting Deputy Manager role in 2012 covering maternity leave. I enjoy my role at Starfish and take a great interest in developing my working relationship with all our parents.
In my own time I enjoy being with friends and family and making cakes cupcakes.
Amy Le Cheminant
Angelfish Acting Room Manager
I have been working at Starfish for 3 years. I started my career at Starfish in the Tigerfish Room and moved to the Angelfish Room to gain more experience with a different age group. I have my Level 3 NVQ Qualification that I completed while working at Starfish. I have recently been promoted to Angelfish Room Manager and I am enjoying being with the children and looking after the room.
Reena Gurung
Tigerfish Room Manager
I have been working at Starfish since February 2008. I gained my qualifiations in childcare in India. I am the room manager for the Tigerfish room which is aged 18months- 2 1/2 years and love working in this room, spending time with the children and staff.
Sam Oliver
Rainbowfish Room Manager
I have been at Starfish for 5 years. I started as a nursery assistant in the Tigerfish room and went on to complete my NVQ level 2 and 3 in childcare. I moved into the preschool room and became a Room manager. After 2 years of managing the preschool room and gaining experience with a range of age groups I moved to Rainbowfish. I love spending my time with the rainbowfish children and staff.
Yalini Sri-Balakumaran
Jellyfish Pre School Teacher and Room Manger
Yalini Sri-Balakumaran joined Starfish in October 2011 and has a degree, a PGCE and Professional Status in Early years. Yalini has been teaching in primary and nursery since 2005, including in a London nursery for 3 years. Yalini is enjoying the Pre School room and has a special interest in ICT and boys learning.
Amanda Olive
Nursery Chef
Amanda Olive joined Starfish in July 2009 and is a fully qualified chef who spent 2 years full time training with City and Guilds. Amanda loves cooking for the children and getting great feedback on what the children enjoy and also has a little boy who attends Starfish.
